Hello. Can anyone tell me if my z3 compact is still waterproof after the back is a little broken? (see picture below)

The only plausible way I can see that happening is if the back was already cracked, perhaps hairline cracks that you didn't noticed from previous pressure or drops and that drop just expanded the cracks even further, but its quite complicated

I just tested with mine by dropping it several times onto a hard GLASS table and it's perfectly fine.

The back on mine cracked during a recharge so it's very like to have happened. I've already sendt it in to get fixed😢

For fixing it? I don't know. The company (telenor) talked about doa but instead left it for fixing. I expect nothing since its a production error and not a damage I have caused

I asked the same question to the email-support and today arrived the answer... You can send it in and let them test if this is a warranty-case and if not they will calculate the cost of repair and if you let them send it back unrepaired, they won't charge you any cost (that's how they communicate it in germany)

I can attest that this is indeed the case. My Z3 compact broke its back glass from a 1cm drop!!

I have also read the same experience made by others in several comment fields elsewhere.

The problem is, if the problem isn't acknowledged by Sony I really don't see how this would be covered by warranty

- how would you prove you just dropped it 1cm and what incentives do the salesoutlets have to admit to it.. .

Someone further up in this thread said he returned it to Telenor - how did that go in the end?

If everyone in here who has had the same experience +1s and writes their experience here then possibly the sheer number will spark a replacement policy from Sony (depending on how many can be bothered to raise their voice)

I'm awaiting the arrival of the Z3C next week in the Thaland Sony stores in my area.

One question I do have after reading of the fragility of the glass faces: Is there an equivalent of the iPhone rubber bumpers for the Z3C? I think the rubber bumper on my iPhone4 has saved the glass from breaking on mine several times. I also like the soft feeling when setting the phone on a hard surface. I'm not fond of *cases,* but a nice bumper is fine.

Just for the record - even with the fragile glass problem I would still regard the z3c the best android phone on the market.

The back of my phone broke as well, from a 20 cm drop. I have a cover that covers the entire back and sides (besides the obvious openings for the charger etc.), had it since I purchased the phone. Unfortunately it didn't protect the phone enough.

Can anyone tell me how much it would cost to have Sony repair it? Can't find the answer.
