battery drain

I have Xperia m with jelly bean 4.3.The battery lasted very long while using 2G but recently i have moved to 3G and i find that the battery is draining very quickly it only last half of the time when compared to 2G,does this happen to all

3G will drain faster than 2G,especially if network signal is bad.

On The first day i used 3G it lasted for a quite long time but that day my phone has died due to low battery from then the battery life is reduced

I wonder if the battery has been damaged.

How could i check if the battery is good or not, If the battery is damaged could i get it replaced under warranty as this phone is only 3 months old?

I had fully charged the phone and after 7-8 hours of stand by with out data connection it drained about 20%of the charge.This is not normal,am I correct?

All apps were closed and the data was also off

The following is the battery siginal indicator strength as seen in settings->Power Management->Battery Usage

Tap on graph is see history details.

The Mobile Network Siginal will be one of the following where 'yellow' is bad and green is good.

Even with applications 'closed', many will continue to run in the background.

These applications, like news feeds, email and social media will continually 'wake' the system up to check netwrok/data/status updates. If these applications are poorly written/set up, they can quickly drain a battery.

Also having Bluetooth, GPS and location services always on, also use battery.

Just a few things to consider.
