You're right, the horizon will stay flat, but the pic would be saved at whatever angle the camera takes the shot. For instance, taking a shot at say a 30 degree angle, the horizon will be flat prior to taking the shot, but then when you view it back with the phone level, the pic will be at the 30 degree angle.

Either way, your shots from your holiday won't be ruined, once you have them on the computer, you can aligne them correctly.

Or am I missing the point here, do you just mean that it won't atuo rotate through 90 degrees?

I noticed on my new Z2 that all the photos were slightly slanted. This is esecially noticiable on landscape shots or when placing the phone on a flat suraface. I updated the software but this did not fix it. I sent it off for repair with Vodafone, a week later the phone was returned with 'job details' which say that they had updated the software and solved the issue. The idiots at vodafone who are dickin about with people's phones, clearly don't know what they're doing as they retuedn my phone still with the slanted image fault. I have since sent my phone directly to Sony, Kent, UK. Hopefully they'll understand the issue but I have a feeling that this fault is unique and may return it like Vodafone did.

Has anyone here come across this fault before? is this smemthign to do with the camera chip/lense.

Thank you

That's a new one on me. You mean slanted as I'm the picture isn't dead level across the screen? Not wanting to insult you or anything, but are the pics even slanted when you rest the phone on a dead level surface to take a pic?

Hi there, thanks for the reply

Yes, that's right, also on a level surface. But that doens't matter does it? Think about it - even on an unlevel surface, the picture wouldn't be slanted on a normally functioning phone - its only the phone that would be slanted e.g. if you rotate your phone 90°, the image doesn't rotate too - the horizon stays flat. On my phone however it remains at an angle. Really frustrating because all my holiday photos are ruined and the whole point of this phone for me was the camera.

Its really odd because the screen is perfectly level when not useing the camera, so am inclined to think its the camera. Either way, a soft update does nothing.

Hi, i think i know what your meaning....if you take a picture, when you view the picture on screen somehow the actual picture tho perfect when taken is slanted????? Is there any way you could take a simple picture then view it & take a screenshot & put it on here?

If you look at the same picture on for instance your computer & compare it to the screenshot on the Z2 is it exactly the same or is it perfect on your computer but misaligned on the Z2?

Strange one this....but interesting:smileyconfused:

Hi there

Thanks for all the replies. i've sent the phone off to Sony in Kent,UK for repair and unfortuantly don't have any shots to show you. I do however remember my partner pinch zooming in on her face on a shot I took, and saying that it looked distorted.

To explain the problem in other terms, if you place my phone and another Z2 on a flat surface and switch on the cameras, mine will show a slanted image, the other will not. Trying to account for the slant by rotating the phone is hit and miss and cropping after taking the shot is unacceptable.

I tried do descibe the issue using the online support form when sending off my phone but I think the character limit pn the form didn't do me any favours. Is there a way to contact my support centre to make sure they fully understand the problem. i don't want them to do what Vodafone did and inconvenience me further.

As I expected my phone was returned today with the fault still present despite my explanations and linking to this discussion. It hard to understand as the fault is really obvious. I'm now imagining the repair centre as a sweat shop where the technicians are underpaid, reluctant and detached. but that can't be true. not in sunny Kent!!! but how does this happen?? that's a serious question. how does this happen?

Well, after spending a good 20 minutes today trying to speak to someone with reponsibility, i was called backed this evening and asked to send in my phone again under an escalated 'v.i.p' request. so fingers crossed!

together with the trouble I've had making vodafone understand the problem, and being on the end of their conflicting advice each time i call - this has been a very dissapointing first experience of a Sony phone.

That's a shame. If it doesn't get rectified this time, you've got a good case for getting a replacement. But let's hope you don't have to go down that route.

It now appears that my phone has gone AWOL in the postal service. stolen perhaps? its now been a week without sign of my phone arriving at the repair centre. Though it should take two days to arrive, I'm now told I have to wait a further two weeks!!! until sony can delcare it lost in the post.

This is a huge inconvenice, as im a heavy user of apps and files on my phone, all of which took me 2 hours to back up before sending. I declined a replacement phoen from Vodafone because it was not the same model and woudln't take the backup I had created.

When I do finally get the back phone in my hand, it is going to fill me me a little hate everytime I look at it and its Sony logo.
