Hi Im using an Xperia Z1 and I cant transfer my data from the internal storage to the sd card. I have tried formatting the card on the phone and on the computer, and attempting to transfer it in safe mood, but nothing works. I can transfer using third party apps like file manager but the phone cant transfer the data. Hopefully someone has a solution to this problem.

Have you tried file commander? You should know that only media files can be moved.

mostly photos. but previously I could set camera pictures to save to the sd card, saving me the trouble of having to transfer the data, until this problem came up. so now it all saves to the internal storage

This might be because of Kitkat, though I am not completely sure. With Kitkat, Android has limited the access to the SD card for apps. This is why most apps will store on internal storage only. The other phone that you tried, was it also running Kitkat or an older Android? If it was running Kitkat and it still worked for that phone, may be you can try reformation the SD card to FAT32 if you haven't tried it already.
