Hi,

I have a very strange problem with my new z3. With my vodafone sim I have a very poor reception, my signal is bouncing from 3g to h+ but often with only 1 or 2 bars out of 5. Navigation is almost impossible and often I completely lost connection and I cannot receive also phone calls. I tried with another sim from another operator and I can navigate even if I don't have a good reception ( in comparison with my xperia M, in the same room, I get 5 bars and with the z3 only 1 or 2). The same vodafone sim in other phones works perfectly. It seems like a problem between vodafone operator and the z3 (I've also changed this sim with another one in a vodafone shop porting my phone number but nothing changed) or a reception problem of the phone (this doesn't explain why it works with a sim with another operatore even if with a very poor signal). I don't know what to do...

Thank you for your help!

This may just be poor LTE signal as this can cause the drop of the reception. Please try this: Main Menu > Settings > More > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > WCDMA Preferred/GSM.

In this case it would be worth speaking with both the network provider and your local Xperia Care team to have this looked at on a more local level.

I have the same with my Z3 keeps dropping the signal and cannot find it again for hours on end. During this time the battery drains really fast as it searches for signal eg 30% in an hour or two. At other times it will get a really good signal and get very hot also burning the battery at a stupid speed.
Ironically I went to China and during my stay there the signal and battery were as expected so I have to say the UK vodafone network looks to blame. I have swapped the sim and tried hundreds of reboots and a full factory restore. The phone is 3 weeks old and passes all its own diagnostics though ironically for a phone this does not include checking the sim or phone radio!

I found out that if you have mobile data on and 4g on (area that dosent have 4g) the signal will have a cross on the bars when you disable them both and activate mobile data the bars will show up with a h+ on the top off the bars i think sony might need to fix the issue for the next update

I had the same problem before. I found out that my carrier doesn't automatically set the Xperia Z3 like it does with the iPhone. So when I had downloaded the Internet and MMS settings via the phone (Settings > More... > Internet Settings), I received a generic "Sony GPRS" APN, which worked OK at times but if it goes out of coverage, the phone struggles to get back the signal. Get your Access Point Name setting from your carrier and enter it manually at (Settings > More... > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names) and delete the other entries. It works for me now.

I can say that I'm more than happy from my few days usage of Z3 Dual. I have better signal reception than on my former HTC One X and Nokia E52.
SIM1 - Orange (LTE enabled + data) 1-2 bars in building. No signal loss when on H+, no call drop. Instant signal switch.
SIM2 - O2 SK - Always full bars.

I checked by keeping mobile network to "WCDMA/GSM" even then not getting proper signal. If I walk for 5 to 6 meters then I will loose the signal. But the friend beside me is having an Iphone 6 i having very good signal having same network SIM.

Z3 D6653 model in india is worst in receiving the signal.

Every time I need to restart the phone to get it. some times I wont get it also.

When I search for mobile networks, it shows that network (Vodafone 3G) will be available, but when I click to selct it shows that unable to register. What the **bleep** is happening with Z3 D6653 model.

I took screen captures also nearly 10 to 15 screen captures which show network(Vodafone 3G) will be availabe but there will be no signal bars displayed. Please see below Screenshots (Signal and Vodafone network)

And also unable to take calls continuously for 10 to 15 minutes because the signal will get dropped even if I am at the same place,

======>THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF PHONE(ATTENDING CALLS) IS NOT ACHIEVED <=========

Actually I always buy sony mobile models( till now 5 phones). But got fully disappointment with thiis model.

I AM USING VODAFONE NETWORK SIM (I captured these screenshot at different places where other phones(Ex: Iphone) are having full signal)
