The motherboard is one of the more expensive parts of the phone and there's also a cost in replacing it.
I'm unable to get you any discount on repairs. You need to contact your local Sony Xperia support to see if they can do that.

I'm very sorry to hear that.

I'm afraid that's not possible for me to say but i doubt the service location would give you that information if it was not the case.

Depending on what's wrong with it, it may not be possible to repair the phone or the cost of repairing it could exceed the cost of a new phone.

I had got the sony mobile only two years back. I was careful all the while not to wet it or drop it. Suddenly yesterday, it had switched off and wouldn't switch on again. I took it to a local sony service centre and they said the motherboard is dead and they would replace it for 8000. I don't come from a very rich family so don't give me advices like 'get it replaced for 8000' or 'buy a new phone'. Just let me know if it is possible to get it done under 2000 or should I just abstain from buying any other sony product any time in future and also save my friends of this whole trouble.

PS mine is the SONY XPERIA M c1904

I bought new Sony Xperia M C1904 in Feb 2014 and now last week on 17th October 2015, it went dead suddenly while playing music on phone. I took it to a local repairer shop and he says the motherboard has gone faulty. I dont understand why the shelf life of Sony Xperia phones are so small that they get dead within 18 months. I would never opt for Sony Xepria phones.

Sony products are very less durable. There are numerous examples I have with me to support this fact. Then too I did a big mistake of purchasing this phone for my wife as she liked the looks of Xperia M. It is not even two years and the phone has stopped working even after using it with utmost care and protecting it with flip cover. It neither fell down nor got wet then too it suddenly died. Service Centre people give the same reason that the motherboard needs to be replaced which costs almost as much as new phone which would long laster. I am sure about it beacuse I have Micromax mobile which was even cheaper than Xperia M and bought before more than three years and still it does not have any issues except that its battery does not last very long. Will never ever repeat this mistake. Will never purchase a Sony mobile.
