I updated to KitKat on my Xperia E1 over the weekend and the GPS has not functioned properly since.

Using GPS Test Plus I can see the satellites being received but rarely does it get a location.

I have it running now, showing 16 in view and 8 in use but still no location.

Same problem here. My Xperia E1 connects to satellites with low quality signal (yellow bars in GPSTest app). It is nearly impossible use it as car navigator.

I don´t know if this problem was present with Jelly Bean, because I have been always in KitKat

I went back to Jelly Bean and all my problems on my E1 Dual are solved: GPS quality is not as good as on other mobile phones, but it works now. VPN network configuration is availble again. And I can use my memory card for music and navi maps. The loss of warrenty isn't a problem to me, because about 8 calls to Sony Support hotline couldn't help my anyway.

Titus

It seems that there is a hardware (design) problem with this phone.

The problem is the MicroSD causes interferences with the GPS.

If I have not a MicroSD inserted, the GPS works brilliant, but when I insert the MicroSD, all the bars (in GPSTest, for example) drop down.

¿have anyone noticed this problem?

PD: Thanks to another user in a spanish forum that have notticed that .

I had the same behaviour with GPS and the memory card. Sony support suspected "a virus on my SD card" responsible for this malfunction. I didn't belived it. As I posted in this forum switching back to Android 4.3 solved the problem with GPS and the memory card.

Titus

So, are you saying in Jelly Bean, you have the same signal, with or without MicroSD inserted?

If yes, there is a software problem. I hope Sony fix it in an update

Yes, I have no difference with or without SD card since I downgraded to 4.3. But anyway, locating the own GPS position with my E1 is not as fast as on other phones. Especially in difficult environments like inside my car surounded by buildings, it takes minutes sometimes.

Titus

I would like to share where I am with Gps on Xperia e1. I have kitkat and micro sd card. Data is off.

After several apps, etc. the solution seems to be on the work flow:

1. Switch on your app. In my case is gps locker or gps test.

2. The app will tell you that the gps is off.

3. Activate the gps on your phone. I do this now and no before.

4. I get a fix in 6-10 seconds.

I hope this helps.
