When I lose H/H+ then regain it to use it I have to select 3g network through settings-mobile networks-network operators before it'll work.

this can't be normal?

Hi,

My Z2 mobile data works ok on H or H+ but on G or E I can't browse the web, I'm on UK o2 and have changed my sim for a new one, but this makes no difference, sometimes it flucuates betweem H and G/E in an area I know is H/H+ the only way to get it to pick it up is to restart my phone, flight mode does nothing and nor does switching off mobile data and switching back on, if rebooting doesn't work I have to search mobile networks and select o2 3g then I get H/H+, the phone seems to default back to o2 2g.

o2 think a full restore will do the trick, which I know wont work.

Any ideas/fixes?

Check Settings, More then Mobile networks then Network mode - It should be set to either depending on model WCDMA or LTE normally the bottom options

Also try re-downloading the Mobile data and MMS settings for your network making sure to download the correct settings as networks like O2 have two , 1 for PAYG and the other contract

It may not be what you want to hear but you may have to try performing a system repair as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone - If this doesn't help then pop to your local O2 store

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

What's the difference between this procedure and resetting the phone via Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset ?

Best way to explain in my opinion is from a computer position

A factory reset to me is like a system restore and a system repair is like using your recovery discs in that you completely wipe the system and re-install it

Sometimes a recovery image could have bug and performing a factory reset will simply re-add that bug where as a system repair is a new untouched image

Hope this makes sense
