Try connecting your SD card to your Pc and reformatting it in exFat format and then connect the card to your phone and start the phone - Don't insert the card when your phone is switched on

It could be something like your phone doesn't like your brand of SD card - Sounds stupid but I've seen it happen - If it has dirt etc then the sensitivity of the card reader may not be as high as the Z1 - Try cleaning the SD card connector plates and retrying or try another SD card to rule out a card reader issue but if it is then yes have your phone inspected

Hi Thommo,

Thanks for your reply. I went to service center and inspected. They tried 2GB and 32GB it was working fine in my Z3. But that Nitro 64GB only not working.

Do you know which memory card suit for my Z3 and for 4K recording, then I will buy 128GB and try to use it. Please let me know asap.

Thanks a lot.

I'm using Sandisk 16 and 32 GB cards with Z1, Z1 Compact and DSLR camera but it doesn't mean that they will work at 100%. But in general they are quite stable.

Avoid Kingston cards as they were known to cause issues with many Sony Electronics devices. I don't know if it has changed now.

Best option would be explain the problem to retailer and try to make a deal like 'I will open in shop and try. If works I get it'.

Just bought the z3 with tmobile and am having the exact same issue. It is a 64 gb PNY micro sd and was working just gine on my z and laptop. But when i plug it into my z3 i get "damaged SD". I formatted it on the laptop, tried a different card on the z3 and it it worked. I will do a factory restore to see if that helps later tonight ,but i am hoping i don't have to wait for some update to be able to use my pefectly working sd card.

Same card works fine in my Z1. My 16Gb SD card works in both phones. Tried formatting the 64Gb card in both phones aswel as a WIndows and Linux PC. Tried FAT, exFAT and NTFS with no success. Both are new Sandisk Ultra Plus Class 10 micro SD cards (Spesificaly made by Sandisk for Android devices). Both phones running latest Kitkat 4.4.4 firmware available from Sony.
