Sony Xperia SP FB, IG, Twitter, Email not loading using mobile data

Hi All,

Recently purchased Xperia SP. Downloaded all the apps i needed on WiFi and was having a great time.

However, when i switch to just mobile data, despite having full signal Facebook, Instagram, and Email do not work (probably other apps too). I can use the chrome browser to access the above while on mobile data but for some reason the apps just aint working.

The weirdest thing was that the apps were working on mobile data and kind of got progressivley worse. First IG wouldn't load, then i could barely send fb messages, then i couldnt at all, then i can't even load news feed. All the apps work on the WIFI just not on mobile data.

I'm in Australia travelling, using Amaysim (Optus network) but it can't be the network if other apps (such as Daily Mail Online and the browser can load)

I can't install the firmware update 12.1.A.1.205, because i have no access to a computer. Why the **bleep** do i need to plug it into a computer? Would this be the issue? Grrr

I would think its a network connectivity issue, it might not be fast enough for those apps but fast enough for other apps.

Thanks for the reply uliwooly.

I have managed to fix facebookby uninstalling the latest update and having the version that was already on my Sony Xperia SP when bought.

I doubt its a network connectivity issue because the same SIM and network worked fine on my now broken Samsung S3.

I am still on Android 4.1.2 and haven't downloaded 12.1.a.1.205 firmware update. Is there a possibility that the most up-to-date apps do not work with the old versions of the SP?

it could be a possibility, do you have any taskillers? task managers? antivirus? etc?

Nope. I literally bought this phone two days ago, downloaded the apps I wanted on WiFi, turned off WiFi and then they started to progressively not work...

That could be an app acting up or blocking those apps

I've deleted and reinstalled all the apps I have installed. I've also managed to update my phone, but its hasn't fixed it either.

For things that do work like FB (after I uninstalled the update) there are no notifications in my status bar etc when someone messages me.

Really at my wits end trying to fix this!

Any other suggestions?
