MrNutt, good morning/afternoon. I read another post where you had to go through a lot of problems with the cracked screen/back of your Z2 and saw that you have had the 3rd one in a very short period of time.

I'm a Sony Z2 new user (came from Apple iPhone 5) and I'm now all paranoic after reading all what you (and other users) have been through with your Z2's. I'm watching my screen & back of the phone every single minute since I found out about this.

Question, any particular "special" treatment or "not to's" in how to handle this phone?

I'm really going to be pissed off if mine cracks with no reason, honestly, I understand your frustation. My old phone was treated like any other phone I had and I sold it brand new.

Thanks for your time and patience.

Regards,

Alan

Okay so I was out for lunch, ordered my food and while I was waiting I pull my phone out send a text blah blah everything was fine. Get my food, put my phone back into my pocket .. side pocket ,, walk 5 meters to a table, place my food on the table, take my phone out of my pocket, then I sat down. Unlock my phone and the screen has a hairline crack., I looked at my phone like just happened.

I havent dropped it, havent smacked it with anything, like ive had the phone for less than 2 weeks. I'm so cut, and now I have to pay $180 to get a replacement.Im so upset.

Just wait for my tablet post to come as well.. seems like all the new xperia in one way or another.

I had finally tot my z2 phone on may 5th i was zo pleased with finally getting this phone then just over 3 weeks still enjoying my new phone the problem started first when calling with the phone i heard the sound it makes when you have a someone else calling you at the same time when there wasnt someone else calling me the first couple of phone calls i didnt have this and then one day i put my phone on the charger and when i went to use or to my horror the corner of my screen had cracked, in the three weeks that i have had my phone not once is there a mark on it as ive been zo carefull with it i was disgusted to see this happen with my phone i have been in touch with Sony twice in phone calls and expressed my concerns in what had happend with my phone and what i needed to do so the phone had to go back to my provider and then would be sent off to see where the problem lies and iff this was my fault even the lady at the phone shop said there was no apparent damage that could be the reason the screen had cracked and the changing noise in a phone call was also heard when i called my own house so the phone has been sent off and now nearly three weeks later i have still heard nothing about my phone i am disgusted that this has happend and is still not sorted out i have been in touch with Sony twice about this and still cannot understand why is it so hard just to get my phone sorted out and help me i have no idea of this forum dan help me or give me any advice in what i should do

SO, I just had a little rant over in the Z2 mobile section as to my phone randomly cracking in my pocket.

I picked up my Z2 tablet today and I'm literally cracking. There's a section, the top left corner about 3x2cm that just does not want to respond to my touches. Every other part of the screen responds perfectly fine, except for that corner. I can't pull down my notifications, can't press any buttons in that area.

SONY, I'm really pissed off with your products. Both my Xperia Z2 tablet and mobile phone.

AND on top of that, I have to pay out of my own pocket to fix them because you don't want to take any responibility for anything. Cheers . Last time I ever buy anything from sony.

I'm also having problems with the touchscreen (thumpscreen?) on my brand new Xperia Z2 tablet. I've just come off the phone from the Sony support desk lady, who wants me to try doing a factory reset then running their software repair programme. I asked her why I should have to do that on a new machine and she didn't have an answer.

Hi Alan,

I too came from an iphone5, iphone4, 4s & 3s, never had a bother with them. Thankfully O2 were excellent in replacing the self destructing Z2's, I would strongly recommend getting a good quality case, I was using a roxio case but felt it was a little too flimsy and I'm not a fan of the black rubber! I now use a leather case I bought from a high street shop, it stands up, has 2 card slots and seems to offer more protection than any other I'd found. I'm paranoid about this **bleep** Z2, I darn't breathe heavely near it. That said I think that they are very much a law unto themselves, mine we're treated with kid gloves and died by themselves.

I've no faith in the product or Sony, I'd recommend taking out home contents or gadget insurance because I'm afraid its not a matter of if but when.

I'm also hanging on to my iphone5... just in case.

Thanks for your prompt reply!

I will look for a case like the one you described above. It feels ackward & dumb to be looking for a case that prevents a phone from breaking/cracking, but looking at how the Sony Engineers have approach this issue makes us act like they "Corrective" engineers. I'm a Suspension design engineer for a worldclass auto maker and this would be definitelly a recall for all units build from X date until the preventive fix comes.

Im sure someone at Sony is working on fixing this permanently (I want to think), but they should have more RESPONSE-ABILITY to the customers that believed in the engineering of their just launched model. Ball is still in their court with all the phones already sold.

Is it possible for you to provide me with an image of you current case Mr.Nutt? I'd appreciate it.

Regards,

Same thing happened to me. Currently arguing with Sony about having to pay for the repair... Their latest offer is they will replace the entire phone for 50% of the cost of a replacement screen. The screen is $250 so for $125 they will replace the handset. Doesn't make any sense to me and is almost an admission of fault.

Awaiting their next reply!

No isues so far.

I got a platic thin case for the phone with a plastic belt holster that slides into it. Other 2 friends bought it after me and they are happy also... using same type of case.

Dont get me wrong, Im not defending Sony since it is not possible that the customer is findings way to fix engineering issues from Sony.

Regards,
