Suggestion for text input improvement

While typing using keyboard in portait mode I constantly press the home button instead of spacebar as these are so close.

I want a short delay on home button (and the same also for voice input button) so a short press outside spacebar isn't causing abort from text input mode.

I know this is not the direct solution to your problem but....

I strongly suggest to learn Gesture typing (available from Keyboard settings) This way you will almost never need to hit the spacebar...

Gesture typing is also faster than regular tap typing and allows for better one handed input...

And if Sony's keyboard doesn't cut it for you, I also encourage you to try Google Keyboard... it is way ahead.
