I've had a Z2 for 10 days and am loving it compared to my Blackberry 9900 other than....quite importantly...when it comes to making phone calls.

I live in quite a remote area where phone signal isn't great, but with my Blackberry I had constant phone signal from the nearby town all the way home. WIth the Z2, however, the signal is very intermittent. Yesterday my son was in the car with me and his HTC One had reception for the entire journey.

It's not just in the car either; when in town, which has full 3G coverage, the phone will often show no network availability, then suddenly have full signal.

I can understand different phones having different characteristics, but my handset seems to be very poor and it is causing me some concern.

I've tried switching off Stamina mode to see if that makes any difference (it doesn't) and the phone is never tucked away in the depths of the car.

Thanks

My third Xperia Z2 begon to do this some days ago. It was placed in my wifes bag and were there for about 5 hours. When I took the phone out it had no signal. Then I deactivated 4G and activated it again via the shortcut menu and now it suddenly had signal.

Because of this and many other issues I have sent it in for a check at my operator and if they find the faults I will get a full refund since it's my third Z2. If that happens I am gone from Sony mobile.

To bad the mobile devision has so many problems since I usually are very pleased with products from Sony.

So it's not just me then? Another thing is when I'm sat at home with my Sure Signal right next to me dishing out lovely 3G signal, my handset does indicate full strength signal, but there's no "3G" icon. Should it? I'm wondering if I've got all the required settings, as I have provided the phone myself, but BT (my mobile provider) has been through all the necessary settings. Also, when I do a speed test with the WI-FI turned off, I get expected speeds. Hmmmmm.
