Compass issue

The compass in Xperia SP doesn't work. I'm using SwissArmyKnife app, and the compass doesn't move at all or shows anything but true readings. I think it was quite trustworthy with Android 4.1 but 4.3 update messed it up. Any ideas how to fix it?

This issue is perhaps not so significant compared with severe lagging, touch screen sensitivity issues and screen flickering, but I think it confuses heading direction within Google Maps.

Have done software repair with SUS and have reset to factory settings several times. Have also disabled most of the Google services. All of the mentioned workarounds have helped for a while but eventually all the other issues have come back, except compass hasn't worked at all since the 4.3 update.

It doesn't help either. Compass reading is between 350 and 360 no matter where I point the handset.

Found the fault after nishan256 asked if it was safe to use a magnetic pouch. Of course the magnet confuses the compass. Thanks nishan!
