Z2 Camera won't work

I've had my Xperia Z2 for about a month, three days ago the camera wouldn't start. When I open the app the screen is black. It's also the same if I try to start the camera using Instagram or Snapchat. I've tried to restart the unit and cacheclan phone to see if storage was the problem. I`ve also tried to connect to the "update service" but when I hold the "volume down button" and connect the usb I get a message that the program can't find the unit. Starting to be a bit frustrated. I'ts just problem with the front/main camera, not the small one. Anyone having this problem?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

A software update would be the best option to at least rule out a software issue. However when you have tried to run this, have you tried using another USB port and are you using PC Companion or the Update Service?

I have tried to use another USB port, same message: can't find the device (Update Service). Have also got the latest updates from PC Companion. For information: The camera starts/open, but the screen is black. All the symbols, like the camera recorder button for example are still visible at the screen. But the don't work when I push them.

hold power button and volume up together and wait for device to vibrate 3 times , then restart device after 12 seconds and try again .

I have the exact same problem. My camera was perfect till yesterday, n suddenly a black screen wen turning on the camera, the icon are still visible on the screen but black in the background. The front camera seems to show a very blurred picture wen I switched to the front camera. Another issue I noticed wen the camera application is on, n showing a black screen is the top right corner ofvthe phone, where the camera is located, is getting very hot within a few seconds.
I am running the latest android 4.4.2 with the latest update already installed
Please help, as the Xperia z2 is not the same without its camera

Please try this: Main Menu > Settings > Apps > All > Camera > Clear data.

grrrr!!!! same problem 3 days old z2 phone and my camera wont work..... huhuhu z2 is so expensive then ganyan..

Go to settings then about phone and then diagnostics, then test device...

Hi, anyone had any luck with this? I've tried all the suggestions and still my camera won't work!! Extremely upset as my Sd card has been damaged by the phone too and wiped all my photos of my children.

I tried everything, cleared the cache. Reset my phone and even flashed a new ROM altogether yet the problem persists. Could anyone please provide some solution to this problem?!
