I've seen this happening before on the Xperia S (http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-S-SL-acro-S/Xperia-S-intermittent-restarts-other-issues/td-p/296426).

I have been using an SK17i for three years and upgraded recently to an Xperia M (C1905). It initially had 4.1 and now I've upgraded it to 4.3 (15.4.A.0.23 to be precise).

Since then I have been experiencing issues with random restarts. Since I have the phone rooted, I have fetched the crash logs and this is what it causing the issues:

[ 975.460888] SMSM: Modem SMSM state changed to SMSM_RESET.
[ 975.461010] Notify: start reset
[ 975.461040] Modem Fatal Error.
