Hi, I bought an Xperia Z2 through Amazon and received it yesterday. However I am experiencing a problem with the video playback.

If I record a video in HD it works fine. But if I record a video in either 4K or Timeshift video mode, when I play the video on my device, it encounters a problem. The video playback is extremely 'laggy' and 'pixelated', some colours become inverted and the whole video is just distorted. I have tried viewing these videos with both the default movie player from Sony, and other apps, such as VLC Media Player.

Get a discount on a Sony Xperia Z2 from John Lewis If I transfer the video to my PC, I can play it fine - both 4K and 120fps Timeshift videos, which suggest it's not a problem with the camera but the video playback itself. I have seen distorted videos like this before on my PC when I've encountered codec problems. If you're familiar with that, it looks exactly like that (this YouTube video shows exactly how the playback looks on my Z2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MzeVxV-TOY)

I've tried restarting, factory reset etc.

Could you please advise on what action I should take? Many thanks.

Try an app like MX Player and see if the results are any better
