This bluetooth quick disconnect issue seems similar to my other Androud 4.4 phone of other brand, I've to disable bluetooth MAP in order for the pairing to work without problem.

Hi. Got a new Z1 compact but am having problems with Bluetooth.

Phone has been paired with the car's bluetooth kit but when car ignition is turned on connection appears to be made and Bluetooth icon in notification bar goes white. After a few seconds it then greys out again.

Car kit works successfuly with other phones.

Have tried deleting pairing and re-pairing the car kit but same problem persists.

Has anybody any other suggestions?

I want to avoid having to try a full reset.

Are there any files I can delete using something like the Total Commander app to force the phone to rewrite setting files for bluetooth?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

The first thing I would advise doing is check with the carkit manufacturer to see if it is compatible with the version of the Android OS your handset is running, please let us know how that goes.

I think you're a bit back to front there.

I don't think the version of Android my phone is running is relevant.

The car kit doesn't comminicate under Android, it communicates via Bluetooth and the version it uses is the version it was programmed with when it was manufactured and installed. It's a TH Bury Take and Talk kit, very widely installed as an after market Bluetoth handfree kit.

The phone and Android will use a newer version of Bluetooth but will (should) have backwards compatability built in to all the previous versions of Bluetooth. The onus for compatibility falls on handsets as the handsfree kits have no way to be updated.

Are you saying the phone isn't compatible with all versions of Bluetoooth?

It should be, just as every other recent phone is.

Is there a way I can delete Bluetooth setting files on the phone that the phone will then rebuild?

I'm thinking a setting file might be corrupted.

I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks

Mate, I feel your pain, this seems to be one of the flaws with the Z1 Bluetooth. I have been experiencing it too. Occasionally, you'll receive a response blaming the Bluetooth device. I have had trouble with it connecting to my car stereo. The phone it self turns the Bluetooth off and turns it back on, not the stereo. I have physically seen it do on many occasions. However, you won't get them to admit that. It is a tad frustrating, as I really like this phone but the Bluetooth is just a dog. I have tried a number of other phones and they have no problem remaining paired to the stereo. PLEASE LISTEN SONY, IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE Z1 NOT THE OTHER BLUETOOTH DEVICE. Oh yeah, I have all the correct updates.

i have the same thing with my bmw, the arc s worked fine as did my last three sony phones the z1 compact has connected and made calls but if i turn the car off and back on it goes into the 4 second loop searching and will not make calls the only difference i can see is the throw keeps dropping out,

@alan9m wrote:

I think you're a bit back to front there.

I don't think the version of Android my phone is running is relevant.

The car kit doesn't comminicate under Android, it communicates via Bluetooth and the version it uses is the version it was programmed with when it was manufactured and installed.

As far as I can see there appear to be many people reporting Bluetooth connection probelms running 4.4 KitKat. This seems like it may be an Android issue or an Android + phone Bluetooth hardware issue.

I'll try to find the links again and post later.

My Z1 appeared to be connected to my factory car kit (Land Rover - Range Rover) but would not access the address book, then consistently dropped connection and attempted to reconnect every 15 seconds or so and continued to repeat this. This actually coincided with a service on my car, so thought it was some form of firmware update done by my dealer on the car itself, this proved not to be the case when technicians at the dealer paired 4 different phones, including android to my car successfully.

My problem has been solved (for now anyway) using the 'repair phone' option when downloading the Sony Support Companion software. I had the latest update 4.4.4 already installed. Not being a techy I was a little nervous backing everything up but managed it and it now connects without issue of dropping. Was sent the instructions by Sony Support and next say received the standard call back to see if issue was resolved....when I told the guy it was now all good, he genuinely seemed surprised, so much so, he said 'Really!' Lol
