Yes T2 Ultra battery life in unbelievable. 3 days backup with normal usage is easy to get with this phone.

But Z1 battery life is also great. My wife has Z1 and she is able to get 2 days of usage without any fuss. I think your friend should upgrade to latest KitKat update to get excellent battery life from Z1. prior to KitKat update Z1 battery was not that great. Also ask your friend to swtich on Stamina Mode.

But without doubt Z1 will not be able to achieve battery life of T2 Ultra which is unbelievable. In fact I think Sony marketing startegy for T2 Ultra has not been good

This is because STAMINA learns how much you use the phone. See my reply here for more information: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1-Z1s/STAMINA-MODE-here-we-go-again-final-clear-up/m-p/471951#M8880

When you force stop and clear data for the app you're not making the battery last longer. You just clear your usage stats so that the phone can't estimate how long a charge will probably last based on your usage.

Hi jay,

It works the same way in my lenovo k900. In lenovo phones they have a utility named lenovo power, it is similar to Sony stamina mode and it works in exactly the same way as mentioned by Rickard in previous post. Using the usage stats the utility will be able to tell almost correct remaining usage time instead of giving synthetic time (which in my opinion is off no use) Also it works exactly the same in z1 as well!

That means there is a coding issue

Now if i am not wrong then stamina mode uses battery states to measure remaining timings

It might be calculating the reaming battery time by the calculation of battery drain between particular timings

So if I am not wrong and if this is not done then this should be a solution

coding for battery drain and certain timing calculation is set in side the program but if i am not wrong then the reverse states coding is missing

if we go back step and do a minor coding by adding some recharge battery states and re time calculation as soon as batter start getting recharge then it might be possible this could be the same way as the states bar battery states in % is showing when we are not charging it decreases and when plug in it reaches to 80 90 or 100

Above is my logic I might be completely wrong

Hi Jay,

What I meant to say was that its not a coding issue. May be Sony, Lenovo and othe rmanufacturers want it to work like that only. Below is my analysis:

The software keeps on tracking the usage stats of the user as to how much he listens to music, watches videos, download data, screen on time habits of the user etc. All in all, the software captures user specific stats to analyze for a given user how much time exactly he battery would last in relation to user battery usage behaviour.

I hope you understand. This is the reason I say its not a bug rather it is working as designed.

-Arpit
