Hi natasia,

To switch off LiveView from DFU mode you need to long press the power button. (Approx 10-15 sec)

The reason for Update Service not finding the LiveView is that Windows doesn't install it correctly. The driver needed is provided with Update Service. If you get a dialog asking for the driver when connecting LiveView in DFU mode you should try to re-install Update Service. You can also try to identify LiveView in Windows device manager. It will probably show up as an unknown device or as a malfunctioning device. Look among devices with the yellow exclamation mark. Try removing it and disconnect/connect LiveView again. When Windows finds and installs the 'SEMC DFU Device' correctly it is time to start Update Service and try all over again.

Hope this helps.

/JLu

After pressing both buttons the display shows the DFU symbol, but SEUS doesnt see the device.

Now my LiveView always shows the DFU symol. How can I reset the device?

natasia

thx for your answer.

right, there is an unknown device in the device manager.

I tried several times to reconnect the device, but windows allways doesnt recognize it.

I also tried to reinstall SEUS. And tried it with an other PC. (Win 7 x86).

But it doesnt change a thing.

now I right click the unknown device in the device manager and clicked on "update driver software". Windows thinks the driver is up to date.

When the driver I need is provided with update service, it shoud be somewhere at my C: partition. I tried "browse my Computer for driver software" and choose partition C: (with subfolders), but it doesnt find anything.

So I still dont have a clue what to do.

natasia

I have exactly the same issue as natasia, and followed the same steps, with the same unhelpful results. Even though I reinstalled the Update Service several times, and made sure that Windows installed the DFU driver, it says the device cannot start (code 10) on the driver update page. When connecting to Update Service, Windows simply cannot recognise the device.

This was not an issue with the previous release of Update Service, as I was able to update my LiveView once.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit, and the latest version of Update Service.

It would be nice if someone from SE could let us know what to do: hammer a nail through the device and just go back to a regular watch, or what? It's a pity that such a neat gizmo with such great potential is hampered by such abysmally bad software.

This is probably some kind of conflict between the driver and your environment. I found the driver in <UPDATE service="" home="" dir="">\setup\drivers\USBFlashDriver.zip.</UPDATE>

I would suggest to manually uninstall the driver and then try installing again. To do this use DPInst. You need to download it from somewhere. I got mine from the WDK. When you have DPInst.exe do the following.

NOTE! if you run Vista/7 you need to do everything elevated as Admin. Starting a cmd line as admin can be done by right clicking the icon on the start menu and select something like "Run as admin".

* Close all Sony Ericsson applications. (Update Service, PC Companion, PC Suite etc.)

* Disconnect all USB hubs or at least don't use any hubs for connecting LiveView while searching for the problem. Also disconnect all Sony Ericsson devices.

* Unzip USBFlashDriver.zip to a temp folder.

* Put DPInst.exe in the same folder on the same level as ggsemc.inf

* Start a cmd prompt and goto the folder. (Remember admin)

* Type "DPInst /U ggsemc.inf /D" and answer the dialog to uninstall (/U) and delete (/D) the driver.

* I also use to delete all unknown devices manually in device manager and all other instances that is found related to the specific driver.

* Restart the computer.

* Goto the temp dir and run DPInst. (Remember right click and run as admin) The driver should now be preinstalled again.

* Connect LiveView in DFU mode. The driver should now install again. Check in device manager for result.

Yes, same here. I'm afraid I have nothing to offer in terms of a solution, but just wanted to add my voice to the problem. Have tried a number of procedures multiple times with no success:

- uninstall/reinstall of SEUS;

- manually updating the driver as SEMC DFU (code 10 device cannot start);

- used DPInst to install driver;

- plus removed all other phone management software from PC.

If a previous release of SEUS was working, could SEMC make that available for us to use? At the moment my LiveView will just display my phone time and do absolutely nothing else. Awful.
