z2 usb flap

Had this phone for less than a month now and already the usb flap is broken. Anyone else experienced this problem yet??

I have a similar problem. I purchased it 4 weeks ago and usb flap pops opened on it's own all the time. I don't know what to do,cause basically it's not waterproof anymore.

Fortunately for me I was able to place it back
inside. But for how long is it going to stay there for, that's the question.

Omg I should buy a magnetic charging dock now. Or a magnetic charging cable at least. Before it's too late!

I managed closing tje flap for some time now....cleaned the flap's rubber with 75% alcohol, and have switched onto the dock charging,but I still think that it would be good if I bought a spare flap for sim and usb and say goodbye to the old one.

Alcohol is not good for the rubber.

I have the same problem with both my flaps, opens very easy. Pops open even.

If the tabs are not staying shut or pop open on their own I would strongly advise contacting your local Xperia Care team so that they may assist in arranging this to be assessed by an authorised agent.

I have already sent in my z2 for this fault only to have to sent it in again. For the same fault. I just hope the phone gets replaced.

I would have the phone in my pocket and pull it out to find the flap is open and I could go as far as just leaving the phone on my desk to find that it opens on it's own.

Is this a common fault?

Iv been experiencing this problem for the last week, less than two months since the beginning of the contract. Iv been wondering if it might be caused by heat and humidity as it never noticeably moves when it's out of my pocket in fresh air or a well ventilated environment, but when I remove it from my pocket after as little as 30 minutes the tab will be hanging completely open. This is all the more annoying as I specifically bought a magnetic charging dock for the phone within days of receiving the phone so as to avoid wearing the seals out prematurely and causing this exact problem...

I have had my Z2 a month now and I am having the same problem the charging port flap just pops open on this own in my pocket on my desk on the arm of the chair I will go into shop with it this week to get it sorted

I have the same issue within 1 week. Having a very bad experience with this sony. Paid alot of money for waterproof phone which is no more water proof.:smileycry:

i had the same problem and i sent it of to sony for repair, it came back with a new case and they've even put dust covers on the inside so you can't see the electronics when you open the flap, the downer is the flap pops open on its own quicker than the last one there i ma playing a game and in less than 2 minutes it drops, i think this is a heat problem aswell, when the mobile heats up it expands and the flap comes loose i'm going to send it of to sony one more time and if it happens again i'm going to have to change

I had the same issue with the USB flap, it took all most 4 weeks 'to fix' with Sony's service centre (outsourced company called SBE Global).

The phone was returned with the exact same problem. In fact I don't think they did anything other than factory default reset my phone. Before sending your phone to SBE Global in the UK, Google them and check out their reviews on Google+ and Facebook.

SBE are awful company, Sony should listen to their customers who have paid a lot of money for the 'privelidge' of using their phones.

I have now ordered a spare flap from a company in Germany. Assuming it is the flap that is the problem and not where the phone meets the flap this is a far more prefereable option than sending it away to the Sony 'repair' service.

Same problem for me.

Sony asked me to leave the phone for 2-3 day for repair.

I ask why not to replace the flap on the spot

it 30 Sec work.

I have already wasted full & time why should I go twice.

they could mail it to me to save time... its 5 cent pice of plastic!

not only the overheating, camera shot off but now the low quality of the flaps

made a mistake to buy sony.

Never again.

I had Iphone at the past 5 years. must say apple has great service.

same problem with my brand new z2 god knows how can the company not make a simple lock for the flaps , the new z3 has a much better flap. i feel very frustrated seeing the insides of the phone body . they should give new flaps with locks . or just replace the device .because theres no water proffing as such

just to update.

mine replaced in 45 min after a loud call to sony service.

I'm using the magnetic charger and not the usb one to avid this to happen again.

The silicon cover can get dry with time..
Try to clean up with some spirit and cosmetic stick, then gently moisture with silicone (like the one for car doors sealings, available in every fuel station). I tried that out, and my flaps stick like on glue.

I have already done as you suggest and received my phone back from Xperia care and it still does the same thing after a USB tray replacement.

Hello Support,

I am also facing the same issue. Shut the flap properly and place the device on table intact, After 5 or 10 mins flap starts popping out slowly and end with completly out. I have to push the same again and again. It is really irritating. Please suggest some workaround.
