Xperia Z1 Camera issue

Hi, I recently took an Xperia Z1 Compact on a new contract, and while I love the phone in itself, I am however feeling EXTREMELY let down by the camera. One of the main selling points for me was the quality of the camera, and the reviews I'd read said how fantastic it was. Unfortunatey I feel very cheated by it, the clarity I'm getting on my pictures is very poor, especially when zoomed in to the distance. I previously had an Xperia P and found the camera on that stunning, but on my Z1 Compact is is far far inferior. Have there been any other issues on this, and is it likely to be improved by future software update? Thanks in advance.

this is a software issue sony somehow ruined the camera software when they released xpreia z now z1 z1c and z2 has this same issue

The zoom indeed is not so good even though it claims that uses some special algorithms.

It should be fine up to X3 in A mode as it crops from the native 20Mb of the sensor.

I never trusted digital zooms anyways so is no concern for me. I do it by cropping.

Actually if handled properly camera is better the i expected even in low light. Is not fast, the auto focus hunts a bit but once locked is good.

I am also having issues whilst using the main camera. It's slow to respond and doesn't always save the pictures. Is this a general fault or should I look at getting the phone replaced?

@ratacit - Those photos look great!

@Jimidack - There could be a number of reasons for this, however please try this as a first step: Main Menu Settings > Apps > All > Camera > Clear Data > Ok.

Updated the phone and the problem persists.

The camera still freezes.

Hi, I dont't think that is a fw problem.

I have the same phone and with this last releas and the old one, I don't have freeze camera problem, using camera 30/40 times a day...

Quick update:

Took 150 pics this weekend over an expedition only got 3 camera freezes.

It is much better but there is still something wrong.

Had to clear the cache after each freeze to get it running smoothly again.

Also noticed that for some reason the pics on superior mode are much much better (the night ones) no more fuzziness or the small pixelated dots.

I can only hope that sony will get it perfect next time.

Thanks for the update. Only 3 times does not sound good. Really unacceptable!!!

The quality was never my concern as I got some pretty good night shots, when it worked
