Facebook video playback problem

Hi me and my wife have xperia z1 and z1 compact. When playing videos on Facebook we both see videos interrupted. It starts to play for a few seconds then gives an error and stops. On seldom occasions only it plays the whole video. I took a screenshot to upload but I don't know how to upload it here.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

If this only happens with Facebook videos I suggest that you try to clear data for the Facebook app and log in again.

Settings > App's > Facebook > Clear data.

Go to the Facebook app again and log in and check if you still experience this.

Hi, I had the same problem, coming up with an error playing videos on my z1 and z tablet! Cleared data and so far no errors, haven't tried on tablet yet though.

Will post again if still not working!

it happens to me also

but only when im using wifi

it plays for little time and then suddenly stops

but no problems when im using mobile data

Easy fix... clear your cache before playing videos on FB. Download a free Cache cleaner or similar software at Google Play..

Xperia Z1 Problem with Facebook Videos

Hi.

I've a problem with playing videos on Facebook with my Z1. If I will play a video with Wifi, so everything works without problems. But if i will play videos with my Mobile Data, then the video will not play and I receive an error message "Cannot play video", "unknow error".

What can be the problem? Any ideas?

@Giordi - in your case there could be a couple of reasons, however as a first step can you check to what letter/letter and number you have above the two arrows next to your signal bar when trying to stream this content?

I've 4G... Could it be, that another program disturbe the facebook app to playing videos?

I've got the same problem and it's no difference between 3g H+ 4G and wifi. On wifi sometimes works fine but never know. Irritating

I did a Hard Reset (Repair) with PC Companion.

Now everything works great!

Hi, I tried factory reset but still the same!! Wife or 4G it makes no difference, plays for a bit get the error, have to keep playing and eventually it will play all the way through!

Facebook video stops

Will stop halfway through a video on Facebook and say there is an error. Will not play a complete video on Facebook. Can watch movies and videos of my own but not FB. Please advise why this is happening.

Try these methods one after the other.

Delete the data and cache of the Facebook™ app
Uninstall Facebook™
Download the latest Facebook™ version from Google Play™. The issue is expected to be fixed in the next future release of Facebook™ around mid-September.

Actions in details

To delete the data and cache in Facebook

From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
Find and tap Settings > Apps > Download.
Tap Facebook > Clear data > OK.
Tap Clear cache.
Tip: You can also view installed version under App info.

To uninstall Facebook™

From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
Find and tap Settings > Apps > Download.
Tap Facebook > Uninstall > OK.

I tried all what u suggested by clearing the Facebook app data and unistall it and reinstall it again, and still have the same problem in my Z2 tablet 😞

I have the same problem as giordi.
Facebook plays video on wifi, but as soon as 4g is used, facebook app does not play video and gives unknown error.
All other videos work fine. Even if i open facebook in browser video is played. But the app does not play it.

I have a similar problem with videos not playing over WiFi. Mobile data is fine, WiFi is fine on other devices. Xperia z5
