On manual mode, don't set the ISO to 800.
For optimized low light performance, use the highest ISO possible (If you don't mind the grains)
Otherwise ISO 100 to 400 are good but 800 is not recommended as it will make your photos look smudgy.

Use the daylight white balance as this will make your photo look pleasant. If you want something more natural (And cold white balance), the auto ISO will do.

The cam on my Xperia SP has just alright detail. It's not on the level of the iPhone 5s but with the correct setting, you can shoot much better photos with pleasing colors.

I had a serious problem with the camera of my SP device. The problem is that the photoes taken with the camera are extremely bad. I compared the photoes with my SONY ERICSSON W995, the difference is shocking . I didn't expect that w995 photoes are better than the SP - though it is not an HD camera - . I wish and hop from SONY to fix this, cause it is annoying and unbelievable. A 8mp camera must be better than the one with SP. Can this issue fixed in an update for example- like the KIT KAT- or should I take my phone to a repair centre? Anyone who had this problem?

Thanks........

Probably your w995 sounds better, too. I don't think they'll fix it in KitKat fw, if we ever get it. Heck, some shots of my 8 year old 2mp w810i are more preferrable. SP has that halo effect in it's photos, edges of the objects gets smudged with each other and I'm no photography expert but shouldn't exmor rs and supposedly brighter lens produce better results in low light or in darker areas of the photo? Anyway my Superior Auto shots **bleep** big time, I generally use manual mode with higher EV value and results are more tolerable.

I don't think it's a purely hardware matter.... Coz my Xperia SP catches better pictures after the update
.205 but one of my friend who also has an Xperia SP with. 205.....his phones photo quality got bad....

I think it depends on updates.... Based on the region your phone is from.....

You will never get good photos out of SP camera. This certain glorified exmor Chip is very small, look into the lens properly. The lens itself is less than 1mm. How it can see anythig, do not know. SP is an emergecy camera, hd video could be better too.

The SP in hardware might not be able to shoot detailed photos. But the pleasing colors and excellent contrast is why I like the camera. Could be just me but the camera seems to be just alright for me. At this price, I didn't expect more.
