topic SONY...please let me adjust my notificaton sounds volume separately in XPERIA archive

After doing some Google searching and reading in forums like this one it seems it's not possible to adjust the notification sounds volume separately from the ringtone volume, why on earth did you do it that way?!

I really like my new Sony Xperia Z2 and the touch of quality is amazing compared to many other smartphones such as my previous Samsung Galazy S3 but not being able to separately adjust the ringtone/notification volume is a major drawback and to me just feels plain stupid. Must be extremely easy for you to include that possibility so why did you not? Reasons quite obviously are for instance during night I don't want to be woken up by emails and other notifications dropping in but I do want to be woken up by an important phone call.

Please consider including separate volume controls for ringtone and notification sounds in next update for the Z2...!!

Hi, same problem here, as a workaround i used Smart Connect to disable wifi and mobile data at night, but still i cannot disable notifications for SMS.. as i receive lots of messages, both email and sms, also at night from a network monitor system. This, and other lack of options that Sony's competition has available for years, make me question why not choose GS5?!

Hoping for an sw update..as design and battery life are great.

I managed to work around this using an absolutely brilliant app called Tasker where I created a profile saying whenever my Bluetooth headset is not connected and the time is somewhere between 21:00-12:00 silent mode should be enabled and media volume set to a specific value making sure it's not turned all the way down or very low.

Then I created another profile saying than whenever the first profile is active and there is an incoming call my mp3 ringtone will be played back as media rather than as a ringtone and it will keep playing until I switch the BT headset ON when another task is executed stopping the media playback. Also when the conditions are not met anymore (BT headset not connected and time not between 21:00-12:00 the media volume will automatically be returned to whatever position it had before this.

It really works like a charm since the media volume isn't affected by silent mode. However I still think Sony should seriously consider splitting the ringtone and notification volume sliders apart.

Haven't tried that one but after quickly reading about it my impression is that app could be considered a "subset" of Tasker which can do this but also so much more. With Tasker your imagination is really the only limit.

Looking at this specific issue discussed here for example I'm not sure that Sony Smart Connect app could accomplish what I've done with Tasker described above. However Tasker can be a bit hard to understand until you learn how to use it so in that regard maybe Smart Connect could be a better alternative depending on your needs.
