Ringtone silencer

Ok so I'm sure this happens to people all the time so hopefully theirs an answer to this... So in part phones whenever my phone would go off (ringtone) and I was in an environment where my ringtone isn't suitable I would just press the power button or volume button to stop the tone mid way instead of letting it finish well I recently discovered that doesn't really work to well with my z1c... Lol anyone know if this is possible maybe it does work and I just didn't press it long enough or hard enough but I think I was pretty firm on the per button trying to make it shut up lol didn't work... Help me out

Try to force restart your phone(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates).It should work if you press volume down.

So I need to completely shut the phone down when this happens?!.... 😕

I was suggesting a forced restart to see if after the silencer works fine.

O ok but it's suppose to be the volume down button? I think that's why I was kinda just pressing the power button and when I went for volume I think I was hitting the top I was just smacking anything I felt lol of it happens again I'll try the bottom I just wanted to make sure in case it happens again I'm aiming for the right button

Yes,to silence you need to press vol down.To force restart(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates).But first try to silence.

I need to lose all my settings to do that... I've done that before kind of don't want to go through that again I was hoping that the new kit last update would fix this issue but I've been avoiding to do it since I hear a lot of people been having a lot of issues with the new update and I'll take my one issue over the 10 I hear everyone complaining about....

Yes,it will erase everything.But I do not understand why volume down does not mute your ringtone.Are you sure it works properly?

Ya when screen on turns volume down just fine so the button works maybe there's a setting to turn it on our something?

No,it is even logical that when the ringtone plays,you should use volume down to silent it(not up).You should visit a sony service:

I know makes sense but idk doesn't do nothing I click it constantly several times and nothing... This is for text messages to not for calls haven't tried it on a call yet but for messages definitely not working.... Maybe I should try holding it??

I am talking about calls,messages are not supposed to have a silencer,since many people only use a beep or something.

I use a short time but like a South park slur that isn't always appropriate lol but ok so then nothing really wrong they don't put a silencer for messages then?
