I had this the other day. There was a WhatsApp update in the Play Store, but it didn't have enough space to update - even though I could clearly see I had about 190MB free "phone memory" available!

The only way around it was to use a small app like Cache Cleaner to remove all of the apps various cache files. However, even then I noticed that Cache Cleaner didn't detect *all* app caches - Astro File Manager for instance, was sat there eating 200MB of cached data. That had to go!

Since then I've started moving the (very few) apps that can be moved to "SD Card" onto the "internal memory" from the "phone memory" and I've managed to gain quite a bit of space.
