Support for more video formats

I recently tried to play a movie "Short Term 12" which is in MP4 format but it said "cannot play movie". I then transferred it to my partners phone "Samsung Note2" and it played just fine. Clearly my phone needs to be upgraded to play. Can anyone help?

try to download Mx Player from google play store...Play your movie from there...its the best player for android devices...if it doesnt play, download the plugins for the mx player from the play store too...

try other player apps or video convertors..all of .mp4 formats(codecs) shall not play on SP

Xperia SP supports the following decoder and file format by default:

But as suggested above, you can use 3rd party video player that may have support for other decoder and file format.
