mobile data changed from LTE to 4G

I've noticed yesterday that my mobile data changed from LTE to 4G. This was after an update from my phone via pc companion to 14.3.A.0.757. First of all my phone was already at the same version but pc companion identified it as needed to be upgraded. After the upgrade, LTE was replaced with 4G. I checked the Preferred network mode in the Mobile network settings and my options were changed from LTE(preferred) /WCDMA/GSM to 4G(preferred)/WCDMA/GSM. Is there a way to bring back the LTE? Thanks.

That is strange,is your phone locked to a specific carrier?I have Z1 but after 757 still LTE.

4G/LTE (Fourth Generation / Long Term Evolution) is one and the same - The wording may have changed depending on country or network settings - So you are still getting LTE just now named 4G it's one and the same

That is true also,but maybe he wants LTE.

I never changed carrier. My daughter also has the same carrier as I do but her Iphone still says LTE. I have also tried to repair my Xperia Z1 C using Pc companion and reset it to factory settings but to no avail.

This cannot be altered sorry, however as outlined above it is simply a different term for the same thing.

Thanks for the reply. Why was it LTE for the past month and just changed to 4G yesterday? What happened to the phone? Why was it altered to begin with and could not be altered back?

The most common reason for the would be an update the firmware having been applied to the handset around this time.

Do we have different versions of the update. One which says LTE and another 4G. So I may manually update it again using update service instead of pc companion? Thanks.

Unfortunately not, the updates are specific to the region/network your handset is made for and there are no official methods to alter this; however as outlined it is just a name and has no impact on functionality.

It is just strange that now I have the only handset in my country with a 4G icon whereas my other friends who have the same/different handsets have all LTE. Caused by one irreversible update.
