If the same problem occur on different computers and you have tried to back up one file at the time, there might be something fault with the device. I suggest that you download a back up application to your phone, for example MyBackup and perform a back up from this application. You can also move the back up file to your PC afterwards.

When the back up is done, you can perform a software repair on your unit via PC Companion. In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.

Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Is it your phone that hangs or is it PC Companion? If it's PC Companion you can let it stay open without forcing a shutdown for the program. If you back up a lot of data, it looks like the program hangs for a time but it's actually working in the background.
