So, Ive had this issue for about six months.

I have attempted to connect my Sony xperia S To my computer, but it wont recognize that it exists.

ive tried different USB cables, different devices, ive cleared mtpapp, ive completely wiped the phone both to factory settings and cleared internal storage, I can't figure this out.

I thought maybe the USB port was stuffed and was going to get a replacement but can't find it online.

I contacted Sony support today and instead of trying to fix the issue they just instantly forwarded me to a Phone repair center, without talking to me about the issue at all.

Awesome.

Anyway, Help would be immensely appreciated.

Cheers,

Lachlan.

Have you tried using a diffrent computer, say friends computer for it? it maybe your system's fault.

other then that its suggestion that you should use Wifi to transfer files its much handy. not faster but handy.

Data Cable wont give Mass Storage anyway so why bother.

There are many apps that you can use to transfer data on your phone with Wifi Router..... I for one use "AirDroid" and "Wifi File Transfer Pro"

Thanks and Hope you find solution sooner rather then later

Ive attempted with my macbook, my old Windows 7 Asus, My girlfriends windows 7 asus, and a friends Pc tower, with 3 different usb cables, none worked. the only thing that i may be forgetting is that my original cable broke, and i replaced it with a generic cable, so i dont have the original xperia cable but i do have multiple micro usb cables, surely not all could be broken? and i currently ftp to my device to transfer files anyway but how would i update it without connecting it via usb? if theres a way to get the latest update then i dont care about the rest.

I just go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.

Thats just about it........ for me.
