I see no cellular network after I hotboot a new kernel image with "fastboot boot boot.img".

(When I "fastboot flash boot" it, everything goes as it should.)

This occurs on both .114 and .681.

People say it works just as nice on other msm8974-based Sony devices.

Can I hope that it'd be fixed in later bootloaders?

I need to test my kernel extensively, with a cellular network present.

When I hotboot any boot image (even directly dumped from the boot partition), no mobile network is visible. Radio log says something nasty about the SIM card being not available.

After I _flash_ the same image, everything begins working OK.

I'm not up to speed on your command fastboot boot boot.img - I'm aware of fastboot flash boot boot.img and I'm also aware of and know how to flash and create a kernal.ftf file - Maybe this is one to take over to XDA and ask there

Not sure if network is supposed to work when you hotboot or not. I would recommend that you contact our developer support in this case: http://developer.sonymobile.com/about/how-do-i-get-in-contact/
