camera problem with 4.4 kitkat ?

SERIOUSLY WHY DO I HAVE TO RESTART MY PHONE TO TAKE A **bleep** PICTURE SERIOUSLY ??? enough with the bugs already !!!!! until when we're gonna have the same **** bugs seriously i cant take a picture until i restart my phone it happens very often FIX IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the camera just stopppppppppppps why why !!!

Does this happen after you force shutdown?(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates 3 times).

I have the extact same problem.

Press the camera button when the phone is turned on (once loaded works fine) but once it has been used for a while it laggs so badly to come on and after that all you get is a black screen as if the camera does not want to function correctly this also happens with the front camera i find this highly annoying as i have to hard turn off the phone and switch it back on then again after a while does the exact same thing. i have tried rebuilding the software many times on fresh install, and also had a replacement brand new phone and tested on that also and have the same issue, this is a serious bug which is starting to bite, on the other note there is alot of signal issue aswell as the phone does not like to pick up signal when i had 4.3 the phone worked like a charm. since i got 4.4 the phone has been acting really weird please look into this sony!

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with the camera.

Do you still have issues with the camera if you start the phone in safe mode (see http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008)? Some 3:rd party apps using the camera may lock it which could cause this issue.

I'm having the same problem too since updating to 4.4, or 4.4.2

My z1 gets stuck after taking a picture, with the screen locked on a still image of the picture, the shutter button and the focus square. I tried restarting it once and it worked, but then it started acting up again. Sometimes I just get a black screen.

Since this phone was heavily advertised for its camera capabilities, I think this should be an important issue to take care of, and I don't want to enter safe mode or restart the phone each time I want to snap a picture. And it's a shame because other than that it's an impressive device.

I am aslo having camera problems on my Z1 C6906.

The camera takes longer to startup and often locks up right after initializing.
This is random but very annoying.

I have experienced the exact same issue on my brand new xperia Z1 compact which is updated to kitkat (757) . I switched the phone off and back on and then the camera worked fine. Sony please fix this or tell us what is causing it...

Why does Sony insist in third-party apps or repairs being the problem ... We all know it's due to the 4.4.2 software being a huge badly made job that wasn't tested for quality at all.

Sony stop trying to dodge bullets and fix the problem straight away, there are too many people with the same issues it is not a third party or a "please repair your phone" issue.

It is getting ridiculous.

This is something that has been escalated and that we're looking into but it seems it only happens when you have 3:rd party apps using the camera. If you have any 3:rd party apps using the camera (for example Snapchat), try removing them and restart the phone and see if that helps.

Thanks for your post. I can confirm that no third party camera apps are running on my phone. The only thing running is the camera widget com.sonymobile.camerawidget . I am going to remove that from my homescreen and see if that resolves the problem.

This is not a third party app issue, there are a lot of bugs with Kit Kat on the Z1.

I am very unhappy with Sony, I really thought it was getting it's act back together and releasing top of the line products. The silver lining is that these issues have helped me decide on what video game console I will be getting and I will also avoid buying Sony products again.

A word of advice, don't try to make software because you guys can't, you are actually helping to kill the brand, just use normal Android and give the crappy apps built by Sony as a differentiator.

After updated to 4.4.2 my camera become pixelate. When taking a picture, camera freeze then force close. This never happen before the update. Please fix this problem. Im buying z1 because of its camera quality. But now the camera function totally scrap.

got the same problem.

everytime i use the camera it takes ages to load and is slow when trying to use it, or it crashes.

one of the reasons i got this phone was because of the camera and the new updats makes it **bleep**.

not happy about it at all.

is there going to be an update for it soon?

Really Mr Rickard third-party app thats all you got for your 🐛 buggy update of Kitkat and causes camera to take grainy and rough images....... sony is dodging bullets since the launch of.Xperia z now z1 has horrible camera software

I have the exact same problems, plus more. I am sick of this phone, promised a BRILLIANT camera... um wrong. I am on a plan and stuck with this phone. I do not want it. I am so disapointed with Sony and I will never be buying another phone with them.
