My device is stil new but I dint hear that sony will provide any updates for tablet z (wifi) SGP311 a 4.3 updates..is that true?

Hello Sony

Since updates to Sony apps in Tablet Z is lower down the priority level for Sony, as it seems other xperia devices get it when XTZ does not, any chance we could get generic android ( Google Play Edition) for Tablet Z ?

In that case we can get updates from Google without having to go through I guess Sony's cumbersome and often complicated update process, and Sony won't be bothered with the problems that comes up after every update..

We are actually caught between a rock and hard place. Faults introduced by Sony in their updates cannot be corrected until Sony decide to do so . And we cannot load other builds without invalidating the warranty. So effectively ending up with a buggy tablet for most of the warranty period, but Sony won''t fix it..

What do you say Sony ? Google Play edition ? Give us the drivers, no customisation,....

I'm starting to think that sony is abandening the SGP311 version of this tablet, it's been couple of days already. there's no news or replys about 4.3 firmware for it. I'm about to jump ship over to CM firmwares.

Don't fret, I think the wifi only will receive the update... The Global site is showing a specific 4.3 update for the wifi only version of the XTZ. The software support site on the US site has not been updated with the current update but I'm guessing that we should see it soon.

I hope so, why cant they just post a link to the firmware update as a third option. OTA app for the tablet is pretty much useless, and PC Companion is some what a pain in the **bleep**.

I am woundering if with the tablet SGP311/312 or with PC companion we can pin point to the global site instead of either US or Canada site for the updates, the wifi version do not need specified phone company updates......???????

Maybe someone from Sony can explain why it takes longer to release the wifi only version than the LTE versions? There is no branding needed, so why is it the last to be released?

I agreed with you Wingcook, not a reply from sony support. This just make the end user feels more and more abandon. Atlease tell us why, its taking longer than Lte version, which is more complex than WiFi only version.

Will it been 5 days now since the news has been release about android 4.3, next time just specified the version of the tablet. Saying only SGP321 will be update at this time. Instead of posting some bs saying android 4.3 start rolling out for tablet z, because that make us think itll be for all vetsion of tab z. Thanks for getting us hype up then turn around and screw with us.

Kanti, i totally agree with man, since sony released 4.3 i have not gotten any not on my phone (xperia Z) or tablet and its so sad that they would do such a thing again, they did this for the last update for the tablet released the update then took about a week or more before come to the wifi only model. Some time i feel to just sell my tablet and buy a Nexus 10.1 tab or samsung tab. I know sony is trying to improve but man i wonder at times if these ppl or short on staff, its all most 2014 sony if you want to be the best, you need to win over your customers, wow us !!!!. so come on Sony

Kanti, i totally agree with man, since sony released 4.3 i have not gotten any updates on my phone (xperia Z) or tablet and its so sad that they would do such a thing again, they did this for the last update for the tablet released the update then took about a week or more before come to the wifi only model. Some time i feel to just sell my tablet and buy a Nexus 10.1 or samsung Note. I just checked the Sony PC companion again and the update just came up, see if yours is up. New version 10.4.b.0.577. I'm station in japan so I don't know if you'll get it in your area. I assume US should be getting it first.

I just installed the PC Companion - it alerted me of the new 4.3 update. I'm in the Bay Area, CA. BTW, OTA still does not show the update...

UPDATE: Installed - nothing too dramatic. I'm not sure I like the lighter background in the settings area... but otherwise seems to work well.

we have the update in Canada receive yesterday. Makes the tab like greater than before....:smileysmileywink:
