No sound at all from speaker or headphones

I've checked out all the threads on this matter and done everything recommended in the various posts - but with no success. I can't hear anything from any source - phonecalls, media, etc. - although the phone rings but I can't hear the caller. The phone was bought online and is brand new. Does anyone have any other ideas? I would take it to a Sony centre but there doesn't seem to be one in London (which seems odd). Many thanks in advance.

I've repaired the software using PC Companion, tried booting in Safe Mode (though I'm not sure what that achieved!) and just about everything else people have recommended in the three threads on the sound topic.

So you hear the phone ringing but when you answer you do not hear anything?And from media there is no sound in loudspeaker?

Yes, that's right - except if I turn on the loudspeaker I can hear the caller (but not through the earpiece). I get no sound at all on media - YouTube for example. It's mysterious.

Are they hear you over calls??

Try to in and out your headphones jack in headphone port... Sometimes dirt or some external objects cause to phone switch to headphone mode without any headphones connected

I think it must be hardware.However,do you want to try a one last repair via sony update service?It gives better results than PC companion.They will reply your ticket the next week probably.

Im suspected that your phone switch to headphone mode...

y this to be sure problem is not by the headphone...goto smart connect and turn the music on the go on..see what happen..does walkman start?and smart connect notify you?

You could also clear data for smart connect in settings-apps-all.

I downloaded the SUS but couldn't find the SP in the list of phones.

You need to run it in compatibility mode for windows 7.You cannot see it,because you have w8 or w8.1.Is it right?

Yes I have Windows 8. Have done the compatibility mode thing and can now see it listed. I'll report back when I've done the fix. Many thanks.

No help at all, I'm afraid - problem persists. It's clearly a hardware issue. Would anyone who's in or around London UK know where a Sony repair centre is?

Hi Dude! I had the same problem and was very worried... But I found the solution to this problem... Don't worry it's not so hard..

Solution :1. First Plug Your Earphones into your Mobile.

2. Then Go To Walkman App(Music Player) and then play any music for 15-20 Seconds.

3. Then Remove the Earphones (Don't Pause or Stop the Music).

4. The Music Will Be Paused Automatically when you had plugged out the earsphones.

If it's paused, then play it. (Without Heaphones Plugged).

5. Your Sound from Speaker will be regained!!!...

Haven't you tried?? Give it a try if you hadn't tried the trick I told you:smileysmileywink:. Try using other earphones rather than Sony.. If it doesn't work, then definitely It's the speaker (hardware) problem... Must go to Service Center.. Have you accidently dropped your phone??
