4.3 update vs. encryption password

hi,

I just updated my phone ota, and now it doesn't accept the encryption password when booting.

it has encryption enabled since new (around 3 months old) due to corporate security policies, including mobile iron and touchdown email client, and everything was running smoothly.

it just seems not to recognise the password after the update (which I'm sure is the correct one)!

Any thoughts (other than the hurdle of factory reset...)?

Cannot access encrypted SD card after update

Hello, I just updated my phone (14.1.G.2.257) but I had the phone and the SD card encrypted, right after the update I cannot access the SD card, it says that the SD card is damaged. I tried setting up the same PIN on the phone with no luck. Any suggestions?? I have important data on the SD card.

I'm sorry to hear that but if you don't remember the passwords or if for some odd reason the passwords aren't working there's no other way around but to perform a factory reset

the reset button is not decypting the phone

Z1 does not accept encryption password after 4.3 update

Hi,

I'm having the same issue as a few other posters on this forum. My Z1 will not accept the encryption password after rebooting as part of the 4.3 update.

Does anyone have a solution other than a factory reset of the phone?

Hello again, if a reset is the only option, how can I do this without the phone fully booting?
I tried plugging into my PC and using PC companion which doesn't recognise the phone as connected.

Will do, though it'll be evening GMT before I can try. This was 1 of several I updated OTA, 1 had the black screen issue for two restarts, 1 worked without a hitch and the final 1 has this encryption issue. All were encrypted with different passwords.

Note to self, always back up beforehand! Luckily the 1 that failed had the least on it.

OTA updates are not that stable as PC updates.And yes,always backup.

PC Companion's "Repair Phone" option re-applied the update and I can use the phone again.

I tried to perform the OTA update to my Z1 today but after a restart the encryption password is not being accepted. Tried to connect to PC but the companion is not connecting, probably because the Z1 is asking for encription password, so not completely "booted".

Could you please help? The Z1 is not operational.

I have told you to update via PC on such big updates.Download sony update service,try to repair.

It was "solved" repeating the update using update service and causing total loss of data and configuration. A very bad update experience 😞
