Same issue here with my z1. Tried safe mode as suggested above and it seemed like it was caused by a third party app. After a few more tries, it turned out DU battery saver app was the culprit. I uninstalled it and everything went back to normal.

Im experiencing blackout when im calling or someones calling. I had to press power button twice to open my phone to loudspeaker or end calls. I have tried the diagnose but my ear proximity failed.

Yesterday i experienced sleep blackout. The only way to light my device is when im going to charge, restart, someone calls me. Power button works fine when restart or shut down. When in charging mode i can freely turn on and off sleep button. What i did is to factory restart my phone. It works properly but when i started to install my apps this problem about calling came up. Im so desperate. Can someone answer this?

Apps
Camera 360
360
Mx player

Games
Despicable me
Candy crush
Dr driving
Respawndables
Ragnarok valk
Traffic racer

Hi,

First of all I suggest that you start your phone in safe mode to confirm that the problem is caused by some 3rd party apps installed in your phone.

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008#U348008

If it works fine in safe mode I don't have any better suggestion than to uninstall one app at the time until the problem disappears.
