Its a shame Sony doesn't admit that it has a problem with the bluetooth stack. I'm hoping that the next OS upgrade fixes issue this otherwise the phone is going back. Which is sad because otherwise its a great phone but what's the point of a smart watch and phone when they can't talk to each other reliably....

My Z1 is having Bluetooth problems. I have a sony smartwatch, a blue connection to my car and a bluetooth speaker.

The smartwatch regularly vibrates when the connection is dropped even when the phone is in range.

The connection to the car regualarly fails, (2-5 times an hour), with the car reporting "Do I want to reconnect" and I have to press the screen to reconnect. I had an iPhone connected via bluetooth before this and it never dropped out.

Finally I have just brought a bluetooth speaker which I tried for the first time last night with the phone inches away from the speaker and the sound dropped out once every 5-10 minutes, sometimes for 10-15 seconds. Once I heard the speaker beep which meant it was reconnecting the bluetooth.

Checked the phone on Sony PC Companion and its says its upto date.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Contrary to what anyone else say, the only solution is to roll-back to .257 (4.2.2) as the bluetooth stack on the .290 (4.3) release is complete rubbish.

Don't even think of a repair or reinstall as it wont work...

I have matching issues to the OP; SmartWatch 2 disconnecting, with Bluetooth headphones rather than the speaker or the car. Android 4.2.2 on my Z1 had no issues, 4.3 does.

I won't be impressed at all if all we get here is the comment - "do a factory reinstall".

(Edited - spelling mistake 🐵

Or pair properly with my car audio using handsfree.. 4.2.2 did but not 290 or 136... So to use my handsfree system I have had to downgrade back to 257.. Great! Stuck with a crappy fone for 22 months... UNLESS SONY CAN SORT IT!!!!!!!!!

Same problem with Z. Sony help desk said no problem. Sony shop said BT should have been backward compatible like MS office etc. Explained to Orange that phone is useless without connectivity to car but they won't accept phone back so stuck with phone for 20 months or until Sony admit to fault and provide a fix.
