I got my new phone just over aweek ago , an Xperia SP. I had heard encryption was a good way to protect your phone so I tried it. It said to leave the phone alone for a little over an hour.It has been 46 hours and the only thing that is happening is that it keeps asking for my code/password . I enter it and it turns off and on and then asks the same again. I tried turning it off and on manually, rebooting it and also just waiting for it but no results. Do all encryptions take this long?Is there a way to stop it and resume my normal use of it, given that it does not present me with the factory reset option despite the numerous methods I have tried.

Encrypting your phone through the default method is an irreversible process. You cannot decrypt your phone later. You cannot stop the process in between either. Try using Sony Update Service on PC to repair your phone, and if it doesn't work, then probably you should seek professional help at a Sony service centre.

I've exactly the same problem with SD card 32GB SDHC class 10 inserted and encryption activated. Phone keeps rebooting after encryption password submited. Without SD card inserted encryption worked on my Xperia SP.

Peter
