Xperia Z1 - Sony Bridge for Mac Software Update problem

Tried to install software update with my Mac using Sony Bridge for Mac.....clicked "install"....for the next 1+ hours only message shown is "talking to update engine" has anybody experienced this? any solution?

I had a similar issue but that's because I didn't know I had to click to accept to install the the update engine

Upon connection to Sony Bridge for Mac, I get a notification of "New Xperia software version available;

Choice "Later" or "Update", I clicked Update

Xperia software update page appears with choice of 2 buttons "Cancel" or "Continue"

clicked Continue

Hi Moiski,

There is a problem with Bridge not recognizing certain Xperia Z1 phones, which will be fixed soon. That might be what's causing your problem. However, to be certain, please send me error logs so that I can check it out further.

Here’s how to get error logs from Sony Bridge for Mac:
1. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Clear logs" to remove all old logs and get a clean start
2. Reproduce the problem you're having, whether it's connecting the phone, importing photos, doing backup...
3. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Export logs"
4. On the computers desktop there should now be a file named "SonyBridgeForMacLogs_[date].zip
5. PM that file to me or post the contents here

Try updating the version of Java you are running:

https://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_java_update.xml

I recently downloaded BfM and the thing does not work at all. its very frustrating I've had no problems in the past updating my phone just using wifi. Why this recent update has to be done using a computer and the fact that BfC is just garbage. it keeps saying that there is an issue with the update engine. I contacted technical support and their brilliant reply was to uninstall BfM and wait for the next update. I hope someone here can help me. I'm getting frustrated with xperia care and how poor the support there is for the Z1.

It seems my only hope to get this done is thru the forums because it takes forever for tech support to reply

Does anyone here have any suggestions?

I need an app that woud enhance the performance of the Z1

a better contact ap because the default Contacts app its so so slow

Better email App because the default app is just no good

and how do i erase the facebook app its just a waste of memory

Hello David,

My version of Bridge was updated when I installed it but again just to make sure that i am running the latest version of BfM i checked for an update. It confirmed that i am running the latest version of BfM. Iagain tried to update my phone stil got the same

update engine issue Update fail message. is there a way to install the updae without going thru BfM using a Mac?

@jop - I see you have update your version of Bridge for MAC, however can you please confirm if you have also updated the version of Java you have as per my above recommendation?

Hi Jop168,

I didn't quite understand how you reinstalled it. The website version is still 3.6 and 3.7 is downloaded via Bridge for Mac. The problem is that the first auto-updates via Bridge could cause faulty behavior, so the best thing to do is install 3.6 from Sony's website and then use update inside Bridge again. If you didn't do it that way, please try and let me know if it works or not.

Hello David,

As you suggested i uninstalled BfM. I then downloaded BfM from the sonymobile website. After intalling BfM I updated it throu BfM then tried to update the Phone still got the same update fail message.

OK...so this was 6 months ago. Has this been fixed yet? I'm having the same problem. Trying to update to latest kitkat but hangs on "initialising". Thanks!
