Yes,if still not working,you could just low level format your micro sd.What micro sd do you have?

I'm using a 32gb Sony card that I put in a week after getting the phone but when I select 'Transfer data to SD card' the notification bar at the top and the button bar at the bottom of the screen go black for a second then go back to grey but nothing happens, no other screens open. The card does work and shows up in storage settings. I've got about 3gb of pics, video and audio on device memory........any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

**phone has been restarted -SD card taken out and reinserted - unmodded Z1 which is fully up-to-date**

Try to restart with SD card inside.Or low level format the SD card.

I've tried restarting with it in and out. checked it on my laptop and lots of variations including umounting (leaving it in) then restarting. I just tried an 8gb sony card which results in same issue. Other than this it works perfectly normally except the only thing that I thought was strange was in storage settinges it breaks the SD cards down into only total and available and doesn't sub-divide available into pictures,videos,audio like device memory..don't know if that's normal.

Thanks for the thought Alexdon but as there is no "nearby" Sony centre I can live with it. I'll transfer the current files with laptop and it's set to save camera files to SD now so should be fine. I would mark topic as solved but as I'm not the original poster that doesn't seem right 😉

It may be worth contacting your local Xperia Care team to see if they can assist in getting you handset through to the authorised agent if there is not one nearby.

How do you low level format the sd card?
I have the same issue and is infuriating.

Download a low level format tool from here.Be careful,after a low level format,nothing can be recovered.

I gave up and decided to use File Commander app that came pre installed. I transferred some audio files then checked the storage settings page and out of habit tried the transfer button and it now works..!? Don't know if that fix will work with anyone else but File Commander is a good option (you just select file,copy, then find destination folder on Sd card and paste..then delete from internal storage. Or cut and paste but I didn't check if you can cut).

Media is supposed to work ok,apps cannot be moved.
