I am also encountering this problem with the speaker phone, and will return the phone if I cannot get it resolved.

The problem affects speaker phone on both normal phone calls as well as Skype calls.

I tried to run some diagnostics on the micrphones using the phone's Service menu (accessible by dialling *#*#7378423#*#*), and these tests showed that both microphones were working perfectly.

I have updated the phone to the latest software version (14.3.A.0.757) and this made no difference.

I booted the phone in "Safe Mode" and the problem did not go away. i.e. When I placed a normal phone call into Speaker Mode the other party could only hear noise.

I have tried using the speaker phone with "Microphone noise suppression" turned on and off - and this made no difference.

Can someone from Sony please comment on this issue? It sounds like it affects a significant number of users.

speaker phone problem!!!

I have my nice new Z1 compact and I was using the speaker phone to make a call to someone and they started saying on there end it was making funny noises at them. I have investigated and it does it to whoever I call on speaker phone. Sometimes after they speak it makes a little bark noise the louder they speak it seems to make it worse. I have tried turning off noise cancellation and speaker enhance but cannot see any other settings I can change. Has anyone else got this issue or have you all not tried a speakerphone call yet?!?

To add to that.

To test on your phone just call any other phone (peferably a mobile) from your Z1 compact. Then put it on speaker phone. Answer you other phone and go somewhere far from the Z1 compact. Then say thing into the other phone and get louder if you like. You should hear some kind of little noise after you stop speaking sometimes. Can someone try this please? I dont really want to reset my phone becauase i put all my stuff on there now. I am not sure how it would be software related also...

We are also getting the same problems. When the z1 compact is called and on loudspeaker the other end always hears background noise and echoing and really hard to hear properly, but when taken off loudspeaker there is no problems.

We called using Hangouts video call and consistantly the other end kept hearing all there background noise and any noises brushing the microphone at there end or someone passing through a door and more annoyingly every word they said was repeated.

Really good phone but this is a niggeling problem!!!
