Network speed (up to):

it specifically says it can give upto 100 mbit/s speed but in in white paper of xperia zl (http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/c6502/whitepaper_EN_C6502_xperia_zl.pdf) it shows a max speed Up to 42 Mbps in UMTS HSPA cat 24(download). WHICH ONE SHOULD THE CUSTOMER BELIVE????

IS XPERIA ZL (C6502) IS REALLY LTE READY????

Your right.

Checking the link you provided, there is no mention of C6502 supporting LTE.

Only the following:

UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV),1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I)

GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900

Hence the name of your device, ZL (C6502) HSPA+ version.

Yet Sony Mobile India's ZL site clearly promotes the ZL supporting LTE

Unfortunately they get away with it, thanks to the disclaimer in the ZL Specifications/Networks:

* This service is not available in all markets.

Cross referencing with the listing at GSMArena

Only the C6503, and C6506 are listed as supporting LTE:

LTE Cat3, 50 Mbps UL, 100 Mbps DL

Best thing you can do is lay a complaint with Sony Mobile India about their misleading product webpage.

Then either sell/trade your C6502 for a C6503/C6506.

Be aware, C6503 and C6506 are LTE band specific.

So make sure you select the right LTE device to suit your national networks.

I called xperia customer care, and asked about it .Then they told that c6502 is LTE(4G) ready.

WHICH MADE ME MORE CONFUSED:smileyconfused:.

Well, the internet has proved wong before. :smileyshhh:

Best thing to do then is to contact your mobile network, confirm there is LTE coverage in your area.

Then confirm with them your mobile plan can access their LTE network.

If they say Yes to both, yet your C6502 still only shows HSPA or 3G coverage.

Then check Settings/Wireless & Networks/More.../Mobile networks/Network Mode/

What are the Preferred network modes listed in your C6502?

It probably depends on the network,I think the 42mbps is the max a phone can reach.Maybe with a burst mode the speed can reach 100mbps,but I do not think a phone can take that much.

Read here .Burst mode would mean doubled speed or increased speed(on some networks).

The ZL C6503/C6506 are LTE Cat 3 devices.

Hence they support LTE up to 50 Mbps Upload, 100 Mbps Download.

The latest generation LTE Cat 4 devices like Z1, support the same 50 Mbps Upload, but with increased 150 Mbps Download.

I have personally tested my C6503 here in Auckland on Vodafone NZ 4G (LTE Band III 1800) using the speedtest.net app.

Resulting in 30.18 Mbps Upload/61.54 Mbps Download with a Ping of 29ms.

42 Mbps refers to the maximum HSPA Download.

5.76 Mbps refers to the maximum HSPA Upload.

HSPA is not LTE.

I'm intrigued to read whether or not AVN's C6502 is LTE enabled.

i have called sony xperia customer care india and they told clearly that c6502 support LTE with a MAX SPEED UPTO 100mbps like c6503/c6506. which made the situation more complex. Currently the rollout of LTE is on progress in INDIA ,so can't check it myself right now. The main problem is that ,sonyxperia says both max speed is 42 mbps and 100mbps. if you don't belive it you can check it in my yourself. Anyway happy in helping me!

Totally understand why you may feel confused.

Rather than wait for the LTE rollout.

Why don't you simply check your C6502 for the Network Modes I detailed earlier?

What are the Preferred network modes listed in your C6502?

FInally, HSPA is not LTE.

When you are connected to the high speed LTE network, you will not be using the slower HSPA network sametime.

There's no need because LTE speeds are far superior.

Likewise when you are connected to the slower HSPA network, it's either because you are outside LTE coverage area.

Or because you cannot access LTE because your mobile does not support it.

But I am afraid I disagree with the representative at Sony Mobile India you have been in contact with.

If indeed your C6502 did support LTE, then there would be a fourth option in Network Mode/Preferred network mode/:

LTE (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM

As your screengrab clearly shows only three options for 2G, and 3G.

Unless there is magical, mystical, future update that Sony Mobile India intends to rollout for C6502 sametime as the LTE Network you refer to.

IMHO they are clearly mistaken.

Also, looking around online.

I can see only a single Indian network operator using LTE band III 1800 planned for 2013?!

That is the unfortunately named Videocon.

The remaining use TD-LTE band 40 2300 which is problematic to say the least...

India may take 3-4 years to adopt VoLTE, telecom's next big thing

So back to your original question, is the specification for ZL (C6502) HSPA+ misleading on Sony Mobile India's website?

IMHO, Yes it is.

C6502 is clearly not an LTE device, be it LTE nor TD-LTE.

Only the C6503 supports LTE band III 1800 that Videocon uses.

Hence the confusion I'm afraid.

i don't think india has any LTE/4G yet under any carrier network. So you wont recive LTE/4G what so ever since india need to have correct network band for correct LTE/4G if it's wrong then LTE/4G wont work either for you.
