When you install and use an app in the phone that app may create and store files on the phones storage. Those files will not be deleted when you uninstall the app and i don't know of any other way then to manually remove them using a computer or a file manager in the phone.

It appears as though I have deleted the file or app from my phone, however, when I plug my phone to my computer and look at my files, there are numerous pictures from apps, or files from apps that are still present. I have to manually sort through all the files and dump junk just to free up some space. (from both the SD card AND the system itself) I continuously clear my cache and history and still my phone memory is packed full. I don't even have room for updates! some files I'm not sure of what they are for, so I leave them alone as to not mess up my phone entirely! Apart from completely restarting my phone from scratch, what else can I do?

Go to settings > storage

check what is using up all your storage, if the issue is apps then go to settings > apps > menu > by size

Best thing you can do before removing any app is clearing its data from settings-apps-all.
