I still believe those 2 apps or apps a like should help you, I use them at night and/or at dark settings (movies, etc), but feel free to use those "geek" alternatives.

Hi,

I have a huge problem with my XM - in night when I want to do something on my phone, first thing I had to do was lowering the brightness as low as possible. But still it shines extremely bright and it hurts my eyes like a. I dont know, how could you get permission to sell this phone with this HUGE RISK OF HEALTH PROBLEMS. I tried reinstalling software, no help. I also tried ask on another forum and I found some replies that agree with me. Will it be soluted in next FW? I havent faced this problem on my previous XP (but it is another topic, it had many other problems).

Thanks for reply and I hope in reparation!

Regards,

thanks for replies, but both apps doesnt solve the brightness problem. well i found solution on XDA-custom kernel. I suggest you do the same, hoping in Sony is like hoping the money will fall from the sky.

Let me explain. These applications use metod like based on idea of app "Screen Filter". They just only make display more grey (they change the colors of screen to grey), but they doesnt move with the concrete backlight HW. I found kernel on XDA, what allows to decrease backlight - but until I start doing these "geek" things (in which I am REALLY not interested in, but it seems that I just have no other way) I would like to find out, if there is not any other way, what could help to the other users. And I repeat again - in complete dark area the display shines like **bleep** - it may seriously cause eye's injuries.
