Call issue on Sony Xperia SP

I bought the phone from The Mobile store delhi on 18-Aug-2013

Since i have bought my xperia SP i have been facing lot of issues during calls. Sometimes the volumne of the caller goes so low that i cannot hear them, sometimes the clarity of the call is so bad that it becomes frustrating. Also the opposite person faces lot of problems hearing my voice. Majority of the complaints from callers are of lot of background noise coming from my end(even though i am sitting at my home with almost no sounds in the background) and very low voice or as if i am speaking from far behind. So basically neither i am able to hear the opposite voice clearly nor the person on the other end is able to hear me clearly. this is very frustrating. Another issue is i am not able to locate the Wi-Fi setup in my Laptop.

I had lot of expectation from sony before buying this device. Now i feel it would be better if i remain on my old smartphone Lenovo. That give me better sound quality and all the basic features ( e.g wifi support, sound quality, browsing easiness and battery capacity.)

Even i could not able to register the Sony Xperia SP on sony link with the detail which i got from the Mobile store.

Looking forward to hear the solution.

try repairing the phone using sony pc companion or update the phone.

If problem persists take the phone to service center.

Also check signal strength of sim. Low signal strength may also cause call issues

after upgrading to 12.0.A.2.254, cannot hear other party on the call

When I saw the upgrade for my xperia SP, I quickly installed it, as I was quite unhappy with the last upgrade. The update left my phone slow, the side power button required many pressing to activate my sleeping phone and touch was totall inactive when phone lynig flat.

However now after upgrade, I am unable to hear the other party's voice. It works fine on speaker. I have tried repairing the phone also. Still the same. Looks like I have to go to the service center now. Not even a year old phone.

I am pretty unhappy with the quality and software of this phone. Defnitely Sony will not be my next phone.

Thanks

Asif

Have you restarted your phone?

Try to start your phone in safe mode to see if the problem may be related to any 3rd party app installed in your phone:.

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008#U348008

You can test the microphone using Xperia diagnostics:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.androidapp.functiontester&hl=sv

I had the same issue. Normal ear phone and mic not working when making or receiving calls.

Also I couldnt hear any music playing.

This is a software glitch and not hardware.

To fix it you need to follow these steps.

Plug in your headset into the audio jack. Play a music song and you will hear the music. Unplug it while its still playing and the song will pause automatically. Press play and the music will start playing on the loud speaker. Problem should be solved.

Then repeat this making a phone call. Call someone with the handsfree kit plugged in the audio jack. During the call unplug it and you will now be able to hear and speak without load speaker.

Its as though the software thinks you have something plugged in the audio jack bypassing the normal ear phone and mic.

Worked for me and hope this works for others.
