Xperia M (Model C1905) software update

My recently acquired Xperia M came with Android 4.1.2 Build 15.1.A.1.9 Kernel Ver. 3.4.0. I have been notified that there is an upgrade available to 15.1.C.1.17 but in view of "PawelS"'s comments in his/her post of 10/7/2013 am hesitant to do the upgrade as I am quite happy with what I have at the moment. Comments would be appreciated.

Just to set the record straight - from my previous first post it was assumed that I was male. In fact I am female and a senior citizen with an interest in technology, living in Cape Town, South Africa.
