poor wifi receiver

has anyone got any leads on solving the wifi receiver problem. because at the momment i can't stand any further than 1-2meters from my hotspot source if i wanted a good signal.
the other famous brand doesn't have any problem anywhere around the house.

I have updated to the latest firmware still problem persists.
I 'm currently considering doing the phone repair option on the pc companion but I'm skeptical if it would do any good. and unless repairing would certainly solve my problem I 'd rather postpone since in repairing I'm risking loosing all my contact data and all important data on phone.

please help me is there any way to solve this or fo I just have to live with it.

thx for the link but still doesn't help at all. what needs to be considered also is the fact that other brands of smartphones and tablets also uses the same hotspot and without problem anywhere around my house as they always get good signal except on both of my xperia tipo and xperia L.
so i'm guessing its probably a hardware thing?

It could be a hardware issue.
