my sony z1 power button wont work

Hey, i bought a sony z1 from rogers about a week ago, today i was having problems with my power button, it will make my phone go to sleep but when i press it, it wont reopen my phoen the the unlock screen. "but" if i hold down the camera button it will unlock to the camera and then i can get into the unlock page. but other wise nothing is happening. i used the restart trick (power button + volume button) and my power button started working again, but im not sure how long it will work for. Just wondering if anyone knows what's causing this glitch and/or if anyone else is havign this problem. thanks

Try the basic, repair your phone with SUS or PCC

Update Service (SUS)

PC Companion (PCC)

Bridge (for Mac)

Also open all the covers/flaps and look for a white rectangle, there should be one, white rectangle, in each compartment, if its pink or red, then the problem is that the cover wasn't properly closed and water went in

I'm having the same problem, they reseted it to factory settings and it worked for a while. now it's not working again. O.o

I suppose it's caused of the inside cable. we use the power button too much, so it's easy to broken the cable. So you cable which resposible for the power putton loose or broken.

I had a similar problem, where I could not turn the phone on. It would happen once in a while until it got to the point where I could not turn the phone on at all. By the way, I'm in Canada on Rogers as well.

When I did the factory reset the problem went away. I hope the 4.3 upgrade solves this issue.

@GlennieA - If you can confirm that it is not a software problem by performing a software repair as below, then I would have to advise you to return the phone so that it may be assessed by an authorised repair agent sorry.

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

I have this same problem. Evertime my screen locks i can't unlock it, the screen just stays black.. I just tried the repair and still have the same problem. I've reset it. Nothing seems to work.. any other suggestions? otherwise ill be returning and never buying anything Sony again!
