Somehow this issue is related with focus when the camera focuses on something it automatically increases the brightness and when it loses focus brightness decreases. This happens when there are many moving objects. It is almost not visible in daylight but the problem arises in night. Party scene selection decreases it to some extent.

While recording videos brightness automatically increases and decreases. I've tried various settings but no improvements. I also flashed my phone with sus but still the problem persists. The video camera automatically adjusts the brightness. Any way to disable the automatic lighting adjustment while recording videos. Recorded videos look awful because of this.
Note: I'm not talking about screen brightness.

I have got the SP only for about 1 month, and am not happy with the camera. To me, this is just a simple and basic function. Even my old "not so smart phone" will not have these problems.

I must point out that I was not happy with the picture/video to the extent that I thought the phone was faulty. So I had it replaced just 3 days after purchase. But the replacement (new) phone is the same!

Here are the problems:

The videos taken show unstable lighting condition – i.e. it changes from lighter to darker and vice versa occasionally like someone is turning on and off a light repeatedly while the video is taken;

The videos taken show occasional pauses – i.e. the image freezes half a second or so from time to time for no reason;

When taking pictures, the phone seems to find it difficult to focus especially in the “face recognition focus mode”. In this mode, often it takes a sofa or a paper bag as the face rather than the real person. As a result many blurred pictures are taken;

The colour tones of 2 or 3 pictures taken at about the same time are different. I am not sure why but this also seems a bit strange.

In short, the camera functions of this phone are not up to the standard I would expect for a Sony product. I am actually very surprised to see these problems on a Sony Phone when my old phone, Samsung S5600, which is not even a smart phone and is much cheaper, performs better than that. And I have never seen these problems on any of my friends’ phones.
